Dear Members,
Summer is officially
here! I hope you and your family can take some time
to enjoy a few "lazy" days of summer! Many times those
days make the best memories!
Recently, I was contacted
by a business networking organization to see if I
would be interested in joining them. Their mission
is simple - to internally refer one another's clients/customers
to each other. I reflected on that mission. What a
great concept. We all have customers that are loyal
to us. They trust us and respect our opinions.
I compared this mission
to my mission within the Chamber. I know that I strive
to "Shop Chamber First" and that I have referred friends
and family to some of you over the years. However,
I contemplated on how much better I could actively
refer my customers to you! So, last Friday, I tried
something new. I took the new Business Directory out
of my metal cabinet and placed it within reach of
my customers. More importantly, I listened in a different
way to my customers. In the past when they talked
about their broken air conditioner or their aging
parent or their hard drive that crashed, I simply
listened. This time I was armed with answers to their
problems and needs. I made suggestions on where to
call and who to ask for. In one day I had referred
four of my customers to four of you!
So, let's take those
membership directories out of our cabinets, glance
over the listings and get to know who is who. Then,
keep it easily accessible for ourselves and our customers.
Most importantly, we
refer with confidence to those we know. So, let's
get to know one another better. Please join me for
the July membership meeting. I know I have the BEST
customers! I know you'd love to have them too.
